It is said that atonement is making amends. Accepting that some wrong was done and that compensation is needed.

It is not punishment, for punishment does not equal forgiveness nor repentance.

But atonement does.

Isobel was the strongest, most capable of them all. Self-righteous as few could be.
Unlike most people her age, she knew what she wanted, and knew how to get there. She had a clear vision of how the world was supposed to be and tried to make it happen every day of her life.

But she was human, and made a mistake. And there was no one to forgive her, yet so much to repent.

So how do you atone, when you fail yourself yet are so proud and mighty that are absolutely unable to forgive yourself for that?






You punish yourself until there's nothing left of the you that failed.

i have the same tattoo on my chest
both sides symmetrically
i was visiting a friend in columbia mo a few years ago and we didn't have anything to do for the afternoon so while i was sitting there doodling i came up with that mark and said let's go to the tattoo shop
